Description
A Hebrew mitre, or miṣnep̄eṯ, was a head covering worn by the High Priest of Israel when he served in the Temple or Tabernacle in Jerusalem. The mitre was a sacred garment made of fine linen and featured a golden plate, or ẓiẓ, on the front that was inscribed with the title “Holiness to the Lord”.
